In 2006 the Royal Mint released a Limited Issue Maundy Silver 4 Coin Set to celebrate the Queen's 80th Birthday and was given at Guilford Cathedral Certified Slabbed and Graded by PCGS as PL69.
The reverse designs of all the coins feature a crowned numeral in a wreath of oak leaves.
The obverse of all the coins depicts the stunning young head portrait of Elizabeth II by Mary Gillick.
Maundy money, legally called "the Queen's Maundy money" is a welcoming British coinage given to deserving poor people in a religious ceremony performed, in many periods with the participation of the monarch, on Maundy Thursday, the Thursday before Easter.
Why is a Certified coin a better investment?
PCGS & NGC are the main two impartial Numismatic Grading Services in the world and is a guarantee that the coin is genuine and has been graded accurately and professionally.
The sonically sealed solid plastic slabb is individually numbered so that the details of the coin(s) can be verified on a central database, and is also tamperproof.
In addition, the coin is protected from handling and keeps the coin(s) condition and finish long term if looked after which can be detrimental to the value once sold.
